Steve and Kelly-Ann are from the land of my birth, Jamaica, so I was more than excited to photograph their elopement along with their family and get to know them a bit more.

Usually, I don’t get the chance to get to know couples that come with a large group but Kelly-Ann made an effor to chat with me and tell me a bit about her story. They met at a game night in Kingston, Jamaica where they played Kalooki. Kalooki is a strategic card game with 3 or more players and can last as long as 6 hours which is plenty of time for two people to get to know each other.

As time went by, Steve and Kelly-Ann fell in love and Steve decided to pop the question on New Year’s Eve. The couple were on the roof of one of their offices taking in some fireworks. Kelly was facing the fireworks, Ed Sheeran’s Perfect started playing and she was singing along oblivious to the group of her friends and family that was forming behind her. Steve started talking to her and she turned around to see him on one knee and her family behind him. She was surprised!
